About
I'm a recent graduate of UWE Bristol Product Design.
I enjoy investigating user interaction and design for manufacture, with an interest in developing prototypes, both for proof of concept and interaction testing. In research I find great satisfaction in combining 'alien' analogies (designs/examples that would otherwise be considered completely out of scope) with user interactions and other stimuli as part of a workflow, which I find a good driver for innovation and co-creation.
In my spare time I like to pursue DIY work on my Land Rover, Fishing, and small DIY crafts such as turning and fabrication. I also enjoy a lot of music in my life. -

Laser Cutting TechnicianUWEJan 2014 - Present (12 years 6 months)Cutting student laser files on different laser cutting/etching machines and processing the files beforehand.

Graduated with a high 2:1 BSc (Hons)
Whilst finishing my dissertation I also competed in the RSA Student Design Awards and went on to win the Wearing Intelligence Brief. The prize for this was a placement at Kinneir Dufort in Bristol.
Amongst my favourite projects in the degree was a live project with Robot Bike Company, where we pitched to the company against our course mates. Our team won the pitch, with our design 'RW15 Leaning Wheelchair'
My other most notable project was my final piece, 'Light Form' a range of street lighting fixtures based on plants that were part of an Internet of Things, which reacted to user presence and re-loaded lighting programs. -

Through the placement I learnt a lot about the importance of the relationship with the client, a professional approach to the design process, and recognition of costs throughout the design process.
Working at KD could not have given me a better start to my career, it gave me scope and direction, along with a wealth of interaction with a fantastic team. -
