1800's Thumbelina's Shoes
For this costume design project I designed an 1800's shoe for a character in a story or a play that can be potentially used for theatre. I picked Thumbelina and was inspired to create an 1800 shoe to go with a costume for the Beetle Ball. I used the 1994 Disney movie as my initial inspiration and incorporated a little more of a dark Victorian/gothic-esque theme for the costume sketch and designed and made shoes to match the outfit. Details of the shoe includes a pastel canvas body, curtain trip for the border, a curved 1800 shoe tongue on the front concealing a ribbon flower, and lace behind it.
