Natasha Dawn Wardsworth is a registered nurse with more than 14 years of experience and is knowledgeable and skilled in stroke, intensive care, trauma, med-surge, and preventive management, and functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Her practice is characterized by pattern and trend recognition that is predictive of patient condition changes and indicative of intervention requirements. She focuses on patient problems. However, care is patient-centered in the manner care is provided. She is able to manage emergency situations that are commonly seen in a level 1 trauma center. Her motivational contagion can be found in numerous graduated LVN-BSN nurses from her alma mater. She has received the medallion of excellence, which is awarded biannually.
As a LVN, she has worked in numerous facilities performing technical skills and learning how to be an efficient follower of nursing managers, nursing directors, and registered nurses. Becoming a professional nurse was one of Ms. Wardsworth’s most-prized moments. She began to refine her critical thinking skills while she delivered high quality care to her patients.
Ms. Wardsworth believes that education is the key to success and has a vision of “be the culture you want to create” while helping novice nurses toward their destiny. She chose the path of a master’s in nursing education to lay the foundation for this lifelong learning adventure. Ms. Wardsworth was the nurse champion for sepsis at BTGH Emergency Center and implemented EGDT . She was a Preceptor and Charge Nurse. She was also a member of the disaster team, shared governance team, nurses’ week team, infection control team, code blue team, code blue committee, skin care champion, and rapid response team while working as a staff nurse in the emergency center at a level 1 trauma hospital.
Ms. Wardsworth was recognized by her nursing leadership and coworkers for “through putting” the most patients in a day. Ms. Wardsworth holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Prairie View A&M University where she was the class LVN-BSN president. She was awarded service stewardship from the American Red Cross.
Ms. Wardsworth holds a master’s degree in nursing clinical educator from the University of Texas at El Paso, where she graduated with a 3.88 grade point average and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society for Nursing.
Ms. Wardsworth graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a post-master’s certificate in adult-gerontology nurse practitioner with acute care specialty. She brings 14 years of nursing experience and was once reprimanded for “thinking outside of the box.” Ms. Wardsworth is on a mission to educate others whenever, wherever, and however they learn best
