Working on big data analysis and visualizations for the healthcare and wellness industries. Main duties comprised data science R&D, software development, and UX work. Research and development was conducted in Python Pandas and R. Worked with structured and unstructured data, such as insurance claims, wellness biometrics, email, and twitter data. Wrangled various data formats, from flat files and CSVs to relational and NoSQL databases. Data visualization work was done in d3.js. Web applications were built using Django, Bootstrap, jQuery and PHP. Built an interface for a partner company's medical data API. Also worked on projects involving social media data mining, Google Maps, and Twitter data APIs.

Worked on an R&D project for a defense contractor to solve an optimization problem regarding maintenance schedules for Navy squadrons. Built a model to test various optimization algorithms on a Navy database containing data on aircraft, available resources, and maintenance requirements. The model produced optimized schedules that effectively reduced waste of resources, while maximizing aircraft availability. Full integration with the existing system is currently planned, with projections for deployment in mid-2013.
