Hello, my name is Oliver Draper. I’m an industrial designer with a passion for problem solving and simplistic functional design. I have gained transferable skills in graphic design, interface design, product design and branding.

I graduated from Loughborough University in 2013 in which I read Industrial Design and Technology. During this four year course I had a great opportunity working for Artform International on a placement year. From my four years I have learnt that all great designs stem from problem solving. I think the best way to produce a great design is to have a vast amount of ideas, if one fails it’s just a stepping stone to the ideal solution. I have a tenacious attitude to work which is evident throughout my whole design process from research, concept creation, detail development, prototyping and production. I think another important part of design is communication, you may have the best idea in your head but it still needs to be communicated to others. I have a talent for sketching, and utilize CAD modelling, rendering, prototyping, and presentation skills to get my idea across and communicate my designs effectively and efficiently to others.

I like to know and find out how things work. This has led me to a deep interest in science. I gather inspiration from nature and find nothing beats a walk to clear your mind. I keep fit by jogging and practising many sports. These include skiing, skateboarding, sailing and windsurfing, in which I’m an intermediate instructor. In my spare time I enjoy sketching and painting, however another passion is music. I’m always listening to music, I play guitar, bass guitar and double bass in which I have grade five. I used to play bass and double bass in a number of jazz bands and orchestras.
