Product Development Engineer

Responsibilities
• Develop and design new products for orthopedic fracture fixation
• Lead cross-functional product development groups to device release
• Supervise third-party design companies with externally-designed products
• Develop marketing collateral and training materials for new products
• Lead training courses (lectures and cadaver labs) domestically and internationally
• Advise on regulatory submission paths for international and domestic device registration
• Support training courses lead by renowned surgeons
Achievements
• Project Manager and Lead Engineer on several small to medium sized (<$1M) projects for implantable orthopedic fracture fixation devices. All projects delivered on time, under budget, and exceeded forecasted sales projections.
• Conceive and develop new product ideas either alone or with a surgeon adviser. Two product ideas currently undergoing intellectual property consideration.
• Developed and led product training efforts across the United States, Asia, and Europe, resulting in sales increases across all product families. Training efforts include lectures, hands-on demos, and cadaveric labs for surgeons and sales representatives alike.
• Developed systems and processes to incorporate third-party design efforts to Acumed standards. Formalized Acumed design standards so third-party vendors can integrate designs and retain corporate identity.
• Past product families are cleared for sale for sale in United States, Canada, EU, and Africa. Awaiting approval from Japan, Australia, and South American counties. Requirements for regulatory clearance include extensive testing, clinical data reports, and proving equivalence to predicate devices
