Rhett Noseck

As a recent graduate from the Master of Architecture program at UNLV, I have opened my options for employment to where the best opportunity will take me. My professional background consists of being a performer for the Treasure Island pirate show called Sirens of TI on the Las Vegas strip for the last 12 years. My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Science in International Business. This degree led me to Las Veags in 2000 to start a company that writes reserve studies. A reserve study is a financial consultation report for homeowner's associations long-term budgets. This reserve study company called Complex Solutions, Ltd. has been quite successful across the southwest under the reigns of my former partner. Live entertainment was calling my name so I decided to dedicate my time to entertainment and write reserve studies in my part time. My participation with Complex Solutions is still consistent, yet limited as my passions have extended into architectural design.

After becoming a performer in the pirate show at Treasure Island, my mind was opened to all sorts of creativity in the realm of live show production. The combination of architectural design, international business, and performance experience led me across the US, Caribbean, and the Middle East in efforts to produce live shows. Being involved in show production start-ups for several different ventures, I have realized the level of risk as which this industry operates. So many pieces of the puzzle must fit perfectly in order to find that ultimate success with an opening night. Unfortunately, I never had my opening night as a producer. Eventually, I made the decision that I needed to find a happy medium between the consistent work of financial consultation and the high risk of live show production.

Since I moved to Las Vegas, I developed a home wood-shop in which I build custom furniture for many of my friends. This hobby sparked my interest in the technical side of design. I taught myself how to start modeling my furniture in 3-D on the computer. From this I realized that architecture was the industry that my feet need to be planted in. My Master degree pointed me toward searching for employment in the realm of architecture. Even though the market might be tough right now, my confidence level is high, because I finally found the industry where I can see personal long-term happiness. Like live show production, architecture will be a challenge to achieve success. I say this because there are many similarities between live show production and architecture. A producer collaborates with a client and decides on an idea for a show, then gathers a creative team of people to work toward making it a reality. An architect does the exact same thing; however, instead of the result being a show, it is a building. The complicated of making that happen is right where I will feel at home.
