Savyra Meyer

Beginning as a freelance illustrator in 1990 after a few years in ad agencies in Durban, I gravitated to 2D and 3D animation.

Demand for animation was low in the mid-nineties in Durban, so illustration became a main activity again and and a move to Cape Town in 2000 proved to be a good one.

Since 2007 the focus has been more on web design and new media, including digital animation.

In October 2010 video editing became a new skill, to complete a stop-motion animation, 'Tallulah (a very small love story)'.

The latest addition to the portfolio is social media, since 2011. After designing two websites, (45marinehermanus.com and hermanusesplanade.com) I handled their presence on Facebook and Twitter as well as contributing to blogs. Later this was handed over to someone who actually lived in Hermanus, since they could offer more on-the-spot updates.

In 2014, I continue to do illustration, design and traditional visual art. The traditional art has taken on a new spin in that I now add digital manipulation to it as well, and sell these prints through society6.com/savyra .

Warren and I formed Fresh Inc, focusing mainly on work for education, development and HIV/AIDS-related material.

After two years I decided to specialise in illustration/animation again while Warren went into the video and broadcast industry with Endemol Johannesburg.

Was a director in the company along with Dean Griffiths and the managing director Neville Trickett. Worked as art director, graphic designer, packaging designer and illustrator.
