As the Arthritis Foundation's Ease-of-Use testing lab, GTRI tests a wide range of products through ethnographic research and lab studies. Through human factor research and industrial design principals, products are evaluated and designed to be more usable by the target audience. At GTRI, I lead the industrial and graphic design efforts and assisted the research team in prototyping and running subjects through numerous research scenarios.
Arthritis Simulation Gloves (patent pending)
I was an integral player in the design, development and manufacture of the Arthritis Simulation Gloves. The gloves' purpose is to help designers and engineers better understand the issues people with arthritis have with consumer products such as bottle caps. These gloves restrict grip strength and fine motor movement. They are currently being utilized in the design process by companies like Kraft Food and are available through Dr. Brad Fain at GTRI.
