+27 (0) 31 260 3577 (Patrick Bond) COP17 is the annual UNFCCC Conference on Climate change, which in 2011 was in Durban, South Africa, my hometown. I returned to work as coordinator and activist based at the University of KwaZulu Natal, under the world-esteemed activist academic, Patrick Bond. * Designed, built and managed a central portal for activist information for local and global visitors to the conference, www.durbanclimatejustice.net (6,500 hits, more than the 'official' alternative activist information site, c17.org) * Occupycop17 - we occupied a space outside the conference, in a style of the global occupations at the time. This helped formulate the link between climate justice and the occupy movement - Coordinated site logistics - Facilitated general assemblies Content management for occupycop17.org, including multi-media and blog posts - managed social media, facebook and twitter - Police liaison - Legal liaison - media management, press statements and interviews - international solidarity work * Built google map of relevant locations for activists (eg. Wireless points, cheap photocopying, molasses factories) * Designed logo jams - conference of polluters * Developed narrative of 'Conference of Polluters' and established action group of 'Corporate clowns' * Participated in direct actions as part of the 'corporate clowns' * Organised activist accommodation - 'Jungle house', the concept has been since taken to Rio+20, and will be in Tunisia in 2013, and Turkey for the Global Power Shift. * Organised Artspace for activists to use 24hrs for banner painting, organising actions, internet, etc. * Made spoof youtube video's of the 'corporate clowns', to concide with developments in the conference. * Founding member of LINGO - Leave it in the Ground Coalition, including Nnimmo Bassey. * Organised live-art & converted into stop-motion video. zerocarbonbritain2030 Communications Officer

It deals with all major sectors in the UK, and not just the energy system. My role was to communicating the findings with key policy makers, civil society and the other relevant stakeholders, strengthen the narrative around positive solutions to climate change and show that a zero carbon Britain was not only possible, but can have a revitalising our economy and society. * Defined the project objectives * Developed and coordinated a comprehensive communications strategy that supported the project objectives * Identify key target audiences and routes to engagement * Implement tactics that use the media, public relations, lobbying, events and public engagement to bring about the project objectives * Research and stay updated with the climate policy, and pitch the report according to its place in the movement as a whole * Build a network of sympathetic organisations who are prepared to use their influence to help bringing about the kind of change ZCB calls for. * Identify the key messages, findings and overarching concepts and design an effective strategy for communicating those messages to target audiences using appropriate delivery channels. * Consider and plan appropriate revenue generating activities for the project, including writing funding applications * Prepare and give presentations of the ZCB report to a wide variety and size of audiences * Run decarbonisation workshops for campaigners * Coordinate communications budget
