Diploma - Year 2

These are a few samples from my final year Dip Arch portfolio. The project is called 'Le Corbusier Sculpture Gallery'. It proposes three pavilions on the (existing) Kensington Roof Gardens, on the former Derry & Toms department store on Kensington High Street in West London.
The parti is based on two Corbusian grids (grids with the ratio of Corbusier's Modulor) which are overlaid on the plan o fate roof. One grid is aligned to the building's elevations, one is rotated by 20º, aligned with the main viewing axis towards the impressive Battersea Power Station (by Giles Gilbert Scott). The plans of the three proposed pavilions are based on these two grids.
It is proposed to demolish most of the existing structure on the roof, but the Eastern pavilion (Pavilion III) integrates some of the existing brick structure. Otherwise, the proposed pavilions are executed in fair-faced concrete, and certain walls are clad in travertine.
