Zach Gallaway-Meyer

After completing my placement year at this company I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to return once I had completed my degree.
I am now a Design Engineer and have been working on my own projects as well as larger projects within a team. Being able to design new products from start to finish has allowed to me to develop my skills in Design as well as learning the day to day running of a business. From a simple sketch to then designing the product on CAD and rendering it, all the way through to being able to build a fully functional prototype in our metal workshop. I have gained skills in metal fabrication and have learnt many different manufacturing process a long the way. I am constantly learning and always looking to improve my knowledge and skill set.

University Placement Year - This gave me my first insight into the world of design and what it was like to work in a design office. My main responsibilities were to assist in the current design projects and helping them through their product life cycle. I was able to design new parts which improved my CAD skills as well as my technical drawing ability.
I learned a lot during the year and gained confidence in myself and my design ability.

My qualification a clerical marker has allowed me to mark IELTS papers this has helped me to work under pressure and to meet very precise deadlines. My work in invigilation has helped me to become more attentive and has improved my skills in management.

Working within Eurocentres, helped me gain skills in communication with foreign students which improved my confidence and decision making skills. My work requires me to be very organised which I feel is very beneficial in the work place. My role in IELTS is a very high pressured one but also very rewarding as it requires me to deal with student applications and their exams, which inevitably decides whether they get into university or allows them to apply internationally.
