The Save Toad Mountain Community Arts Festival is an urban regeneration happening, a spontaneous reaction to the pending demolition of one of Taipei’s last remaining and most beautiful military veterans communities. A left over memory from the great migration following the Chinese civil war, Toad Mountain is a periphery space, an urban edge community in an ever upwards expanding city; it is at this edge that we bring into question Taipei's gung-ho development strategy. We provide an interactive forum for alternative visions of what a city for the people can be. One that involves the people at every stage in its imagination, one that respects the memories and history of the people, and does not alienate its citizens from everything they remember.
