INTEGRATED/CAMPAIGN DESIGN: To Boston With Love/Boston Strong

Following the Boston Marathon tragedy in 2013, Bostonians felt an outpouring of support from across the country and around the world. T-shirts proclaimed ‘Boston Strong,’ a public memorial grew in Copley Square, and flags were sewn and sent to Boston with words of hope and strength.

There’s a familiar saying in the quilting community: “Our lives are like quilts—bits and pieces, joy and sorrow, stitched with love.” “To Boston With Love” evokes this sentiment. As a gesture of solidarity, more than 1,700 flags were created in nearly every US state, and every corner of the globe, conveying symbols of love and peace for all Bostonians.

The project was a grass-roots effort conceived by Berene Campbell of Vancouver, Canada, and organized locally by Amy Friend of West Newbury, in honor of those affected by Boston Marathon tragedy.
