Camille Patricia Mendoza

A strikingly beautiful juxtaposition of color, texture and compositional elegance defines the woodblock prints of Edna Boies Hopkins (1872–1937) which inspire this Museum Collection merchandise assortment. Her education in the United States introduced her to woodblock printing, and after relocating to Paris in 1904 she became known for her Japanese–inspired florals. At the start of WWI, Hopkins fled Europe and joined the thriving art community in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Through both her work and teaching she helped define the white–line technique associated with the artist collective known as the Provincetown Printmakers.
