o Responsible for overseeing Halyard’s first major government research program, a $14.4MM grant for the Office of Naval Research, focusing on battlefield wound management. Successfully satisfied Office of Naval Research deliverables for first phase of work and project is ongoing.
o Managed R&D teams supporting merger and acquisition initiatives led by business development. Identified partners which offer product to expand Halyard’s portfolio in digestive and respiratory health markets.
o Lead team of scientists in advanced technology projects focusing on new platform growth by identifying and accessing high risk/high reward opportunities and reporting results to company officers. Manage execution on research planning and proof of principle phases to define scope of work, test methods and demonstrate viability of novel technologies.
o Selected by senior management to temporarily lead a lifecycle management project in jeopardy. Introduced advanced methods to define product and market requirements identifying opportunities in a commoditized market space. The project continues to move forward implementing requirements developed during my leadership.

o Work closely with R&D and cross-functional leadership to ensure business stakeholder needs are accounted for and that progress on the project is well communicated. Responsible for defining project governance, managing +$1MM budget, rules and policies.

o Support and/or at times lead front end customer research, user insight translation, development of novel technology and the integration of that technology into manufacturing.
Global Design Manager

• Identified opportunity to introduce processes/tools in Industrial Design and PMI best practices to allow for greater transparency and measurement of progress throughout design process. This includes tools such as: House of Quality, RACI matrix, WBS/Network Diagram, decision tree, learning plan and quantitative evaluation of early stage concepts for traceability to market and product requirements.
• Managed Industrial Design function, strategy and resources for six business platforms. Led development of brand and category design vision for Halyard Healthcare. Led design development in commercializing AAMI 4 surgical gown, post-operative drug delivery device and next generation RF Ablation Generator.
• Design, build, ideate, and create new product designs, helping to develop product branding and attributes that create new to the world user experiences. Managed effort to create new Halyard brand guidelines which provide high level direction while allowing business franchises ability to develop specific experiences/element for their target markets/users.

Lead Industrial Designer/ Project Manager

Managed development of a new product category within company by developing two new family lines of food containers under the Arm & Hammer brand. Introduced new processes for product development, quoting and vendor management practices, quality control, project management to accomplish business goals.
o Managed domestic and foreign product development and manufacturing vendors.
o Shipped product on-time to Wal-Mart despite the challenge of the timeline being reduced by 50% in last 6 months of project.
o Expedited eleven mold build/trials in China and initial domestic inventory build within 90 days to meet ship date.
IOR was awarded “Licensee Vendor of the Year” by Church & Dwight for excellence in execution for launching innovative product using the Arm & Hammer brand. These products were the first plastic home goods launch using the Arm & Hammer brand.
Launched additional products for Brita and Arm & Hammer in water filtration and air freshener markets respectively.

• Lead designer for the world's largest independent manufacturer of plastic housewares.
• Responsible for defining market needs and technical requirements, translating them into highly intuitive, ergonomic, user-focused, visually correct and viable product solutions suitable for high volume manufacturing.
• Designed over 14 new houseware products found at Wal-Mart, Target, Home Depot, Lowes and others resulting in multiple design and utility patents.
• Trained design team in photo-realistic computer rendering software resulting in improved sales presentation for new product release.
• Improved design team productivity by introducing process for exporting surface CAD models to reduce time associated with creating complex models in parametric CAD software.
Senior Industrial Designer

• Lead designer managing projects for home organization and indoor waste categories (+$250 million/sales).
• Introduced twenty new products to consumer market in home storage, indoor waste and laundry categories resulting in over 10 patents. Balanced workload of multiple projects (up to 8 concurrent) which required finished product within 12-18 month timeframe.
• Define design scope and goals, communicated timeline, managed design process and status to project team members. In addition, assisted in research planning, engineering of product, tool design and material/texture specifications.
• Focused on developing best-cost products which maximized manufacturing advantages. All programs resulted in increase of at least 10% profit margin while consistently testing as “consumer preferred” over competitive product offerings. Programs involved high capital investment ($1-6 million) requiring creative solutions to maximize product offering while minimizing expenses/investment.
Lead Industrial Designer

• Provided product design services to multiple brands (+$80 million/sales). Markets included drinkware, awards and recognition, health/wellness and writing instruments.
• Managed timeline and vendors, communicating intent to foreign manufacturers. Presented over 200 finished concepts (ready for production), 15 products went into production.
• Assisted in identifying tools required to start a new product development studio. Tasks included identifying project/design process tracking, qualifying outside consultants/vendors and hardware/software needs.
• Finalist in the ASI Design Awards Competition (industry award).
