One of the four major international design awards, the German iF Design Award, is known as the Oscar of industrial design. Recently the sponsor announced a new ranking of universities around the world, and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology made it to world no.2, along with three other universities which also scored 140 points, while first place was taken by Korea's Samsung art design institute: SADI.

The department of Product Design was established in 1995. Most of the students graduated from our department have excellent performance in the field of product design. The facility of the Department is well-equipped with the studio of metal processing, wood processing, ceramics, painting, CNC and other professional equipments. Two rapid prototyping machines are provided in the CAD / CAM laboratory. Other professional laboratories, such as: transportation lab, human factor and interactive design lab, computer lab, and graduation project classroom are all well equipped. Students in the department are highly encouraged to participate in various competitions and their performance is quite spectacular.
