Kevin O'Malley

Engineering and New Product Development Team lead on all early concept design work. Work directly with sales reps, plant managers, and major clients from the retail, food packaging, and food service industries, including McDonald’s, Starbucks, Hefty, Driscoll’s, Walmart, and Chick-Fil-A, on a daily basis while managing demanding project timelines. Fully responsible for creating all concept presentations and preparing selected designs for prototyping and production.

Led the early concept development for several projects, including soft goods, travel accessories for Munchkin's Brica brand, and feeding and bathing products, through both traditional and digital media. Coordinated manufacturing details with engineers in China.
(Reason for Leaving: Munchkin unexpectedly decided to close it's Charlotte office this past April.)

Worked with the Advanced Concepts, Product Development, and Design teams to deliver useful prototypes for both internal design evaluation and vendor line reviews. Created “fail-fast,” “visual,” and “works-like” prototypes for the concept development of future products. Also, assisted in design refinement, mechanism development, and child-testing research.

While my "Prototype Engineer Internship" focused intensively on mechanical problem solving within the design process, this initial internship with Radio Flyer focused on establishing a broader, deeper set of fundamental design skills. After consistently producing project deliverables that met or exceeded project expectations and successfully collaborating with the other designers and engineers, I received an offer to return to Radio Flyer in a similar role with further responsibilities and project management roles.
