Worked within a User-Centered Design process to develop and refine the user interface for image-guided surgical navigation systems. Responsibilities included all stages of product development, from identifying user needs and problem definition to the planning, facilitating, and analysis of user testing. Managed and collaborated with contractors and consultants. Submitted several invention disclosures.

Developed the user experience for handheld analytical instruments, including menu structure, button layout and icons, and user interaction points in water analysis products. Planned, recruited for, and executed U.S. and international usability testing, and provided findings and recommendations to the development teams improve the overall user experience. Collaborated closely with graphic design team to develop icons, style and standards. Drove and consulted on Industrial Design of instruments, both handheld units and larger lab-based enclosures.

Drove overall look and feel of electrosurgical generators, innovative hand-held surgical instruments, and accessories. Responsibilities included Industrial Design, User Interface Design, and Human Factors research. Translated user needs and extensive usability testing results, findings, and analysis into award-winning medical devices. Defined, documented, and implemented Human Factors requirements, based on User-centered design methodology principles. Submitted several invention disclosures Eight patents awarded, others pending.

Managed external design resources to define and deliver award-winning industrial design of HP products. Drove design and development of User Interface. Defined test criteria and conducted extensive testing with users, evaluating User Interaction. Facilitated design reviews, addressing Design, Usability, and Manufacturing issues.

Drove Development and Prototyping of new product designs, including medical devices, analytical equipment, and computer peripherals.

Defined and developed successful computer peripheral products from concept to production, including Concept sketches, Prototyping, User testing and Analysis, Ergonomics, and Branding. Awarded five U.S. patents and one British patent, others pending.

Designed and Prototyped a wide range of products in fast-paced consultant setting. Product designs included medical equipment, computer displays, and in-line skates.
