I write copy for corporate and nonprofit websites; create B2B and B2C blog content; write and edit articles and newsletters on a range of general and technical topics; support university faculty with academic research and writing; and cover news, arts and culture for online and print newspapers and magazines.

Restructure and rewrite the Travel section of United Airlines' employee intranet site.

I wrote content for HIMSS' main website, HIMSS.org and HIMMS' conference website, HIMSSconference.org and revised existing content with an eye toward consistent branding and voice.

As a Staff Writer, I wrote copy marketing products and services featured in Groupon's "daily deals." I specialized in writing about beauty products, medical treatments, and admission to events such as museum exhibitions, sports games, and musical performances. I researched and fact-checked all of my work. My copy for each "daily deal" was emailed to subscribers and posted to Groupon’s website. My work was nominated for two Editorial Department's "Best Write-Up" awards.

In late 2011, I was selected to be part of a pilot Merchant Interview program. Through this program, I had the opportunity to interview small business owners over the phone in order to learn about their work and their passions. I developed interview questions, made discretionary judgements, and wrote profiles of each business for Groupon's website.

In collaboration with Butler Hospital CEO Dr. Pat Recupero, I researched and wrote about potential legal ramifications of cyberbullying among youth and adults.

CSR, Incorporated is a consulting firm that produces publications under contract with the National Institutes of Health. As a Science Writer for National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism's (NIAAA's) National Alcohol Education Program (NAEP), I applied my research, writing and editing skills to scientific articles for peer-reviewed journals, plain-language newsletters for doctors and other clinicians, pamphlets and brochures for the general public, and marketing and advertising materials. I collaborated with editors, graphic designers, and reviewers to produce publications under deadline. I also edited publications for content, clarity and compliance with GPO style, and represented NIAAA at national conferences, where I had the opportunity to talk about alcohol research with scientists, doctors and other clinicians, and the members of the general public. In addition to my duties for NIAAA, I wrote technical copy for RFPs bidding on new government contracts.

Under contract with Brown University, I performed research and wrote articles for "The Brown University Child and Adolescent Behavior Letter," a nationally-distributed newsletter presenting new research to clinicians serving young people in the mental health field. I also aggregated content and substantively edited a book entitled "Treating ADHD in Children: Understanding the Role of Medication." In addition, I drew on my knowledge of Adobe PageMaker to design and format handouts and brochures for children, parents, and clinicians, and wrote copy marketing Brown University publications.

Evolution was an online comics anthology that I created and ran with artist and writer Dan Carroll in 2002. I designed and developed the website, including a user authentication and content management system, using PHP and a MySQL database. I edited content, communicated with artists and writers, and oversaw public relations.

I developed websites for various departments at the University of Chicago using Macromedia and Adobe creative suites. I worked extensively with html, CSS, and javascript.

Designed, develop and maintained web sites for various local and regional businesses and nonprofits, including Brooks Pharmacy and the Pawtucket Council for the Arts. Wrote and edited content for web and print publications, including newsletters, abstracts, and articles. Produced print publications such as pamphlets, fliers, newsletters, and business cards. Created graphics and logos. Worked closely with clients to determine their needs and expectations, and to provide technical support. Supervised and trained replacement before leaving.
