Senior Industrial Designer responsible for providing design consultancy to many international brands. Working within tight timescales, planning design strategy & brand language, actively liaising with clients and far east manufacture; to turn strategic ambitions into tangible, successful products. The value I added through this process delivered previously unattainable exclusivity agreements and repeat business to Otter. Clients included: Morphy Richards, Meyer Prestige, Cuisinart, Kenwood, Philips, Breville, Braun, Waring, Next, Vitek & Polaris; to name a few.
Jan 2007 - Jan 2011 (4 years)
I developed my role within Kenwood Design Office to take responsibility of the breakfast category; designing and developing Kenwood’s kettle, toaster and coffee machine products, marketed globally. Initial ideas and sketches developed through to A-surface design definition CAD data, and specifications, to be issued to manufacturers. I actively liaised with fellow designers, marketing, engineering and far east manufacturers to successfully meet project timescales & budgets, as well as commercial & safety requirements. I have designed a number of products launched into the market-place, I was awarded a Red Dot Design Award in 2010, for my work on MG700.
Oct 2006 - Jan 2007 (3 months)
As winner of the RSA’s Natural Disaster Relief competition, I was awarded with a four month internship within GSK’s Device Technology Group. I was part of a small in-house consultancy providing concept design and innovation on consumer healthcare products for brands such as: Panadol, NiQuitin, Aquafresh, Sensodyne Pronamel, Ribena and Lucozade. It was both challenging and rewarding to work on fast moving, diverse projects, for high profile international brands.
Jun 2005 - Sep 2005 (3 months)
I experienced life as part of a small design consultancy working closely with two directors on wide ranging projects from performance sportswear to toothpaste dispensers. I was actively involved in various stages of the design process, from initial brainstorms, concept generation, sketch development, Photoshop rendering and producing visual presentations for clients. I gained a valuable insight into consultancy work and the teamwork required to make it a success. I took full advantage of the opportunity to learn Rhinoceros 3D.
