Amparo Vázquez

Born and currently based in Monterrey, at the northeastern of México, Amparo María Vázquez García (1985) is a Visual Artist focused on Production Design/Art Direction, PhD on Film and Gender Studies (double degree: Tecnológico de Monterrey/Universiteit Antwerpen) and Professor of Production Design and Creative Workflows at UANL Visual Arts Faculty, also Professor of Art Direction for Audiovisual Media at Tec de Monterrey

An artist who loves to capture and create moments, instants, atmospheres, stories, images. Disciple of artists like Roberto Sosa (México), Erick Steinman (+, Germany), James Demster (United States), Leticia Parra (México), Carmen Alardín (México), Carlos Bravo (México) and Víctor Gaviria (Colombia), she had earned some awards for her work and grants thanks to the JUMEX Foundation Collection, the National Autonomous University of México (UNAM) Bergman Cathedra and UNAM International Film Festival, United States Embassy, National Council for Culture and Arts in México (CONACULTA), Council for Culture and Arts in Nuevo León (CONARTE) and National Institute of Cinematography (IMCINE).

She had presented her art work in Monterrey, Puebla, Durango and México City in México; in Washington and San Marcos, Texas in the United States and most recently in Leuven, Belgium. In 2013 she founded the SIGHT project México, and in 2014, in association with Luis Aguilar, she founded DIASPORA, an auto-sustainable art collective that attempts to fund its own projects based on a vintage clothing brand of the same name.

Amparo is also part of the Art Promoters Network of Nuevo León, México. Raised in the most competitive city of México and one of the most important cities for entrepreneurship in Latin América she is always looking for alternatives and new creative forms of solve, create, re-create, form and transform. An eternal dreamer, but a tireless warrior, she loves to observe phenomena, but prefers to provoke them.
