About
I grew up surrounded by design, engineering, accounting, and entrepreneurial people. I started my first business with my brother when I was 12 and while that one didn’t last longer than a couple years, this began the path that had me working for myself in some capacity over the next decade in addition to working my primary job. After over a decade of working as an engineer and designer for small companies to places like HP, I decided to start a design firm with several partners. A couple years later the partners all went in different directions and I found myself recreating the company I wanted, working with the visionaries of the world. So I founded the Peterman Design Firm. I am passionate about green-tech, the outdoors, space, and developing new technologies that can help the world. With these avenues I started in my home by myself and now have a team of designers, engineers, and artists helping my clients reach their full potential. My mission is to be a global leader in the design and launch of innovative and sustainable technologies, products, and brands. When I’m not working toward that mission I’m with my family enjoying life.

Designer & 3D modelerPortland, ORJul 2011 - Sep 2014 (3 years 2 months)Primary duties as designer included converting old drawing into CAD, switching drawings from other programs into SolidWorks. Designed new speakers, speaker cabinets. Created drawings and models. Created drawing standards, standardized drawing templates, created other templates for SolidWorks drawings. Worked with vendors for machined, molded, and cast parts. Negotiated pricing, and worked as a go-between for vendors and company owner. Also worked as IT, managing computers, setting up and maintaining. Set up network drives, as well as back up and syncing. Worked on building prototypes as well as testing them from start to finish. Developed process and procedures for manufacturing and production. Helped develop new product line. Increased manufacture-ability of current products. Took Product designs from ideas and sketches to 3D designs, to prototypes, to production.

Contract Mechanical Designer/DrafterVancouver, WAJul 2008 - Oct 2008 (3 months)Designed using CoCreate OneSpace CAD to create 3D models and manufacturing drawings. I also used data storage system for all files I worked with. Primary tasks were creating and updating mechanical drawings. Also did physical rework on parts already made, and helped with the assembly and modification of printers.

Created concept sketches and 3D CAD models throughout the process. Generated several overview / sales 2D drawings and manufacturing drawings. Supplied photo-realistic renders as well as files for creating a rapid prototype physical model. Designed Mechanical components and layout/position for electrical components.

Mechanical Engineering Assistant / 3D CAD ModelerVancouver, WAJun 2005 - Feb 2008 (2 years 8 months)Started work as intern creating CAD models of production fixtures, 2D drawings, and documentation. After six month internship, was promoted to Assistant Mechanical Engineer. Primary tasks included using SolidWorks to design fixtures, testing jigs, and lasers, creating drawing packages, and documentation of all work and projects. Also wrote RFQs to obtain quotes from various vendors and machine shops, created and documented process flows. Fab work included assembly and test of parts, construction, assembly, and design of validation experiments for parts, fixtures, and procedures, and produced test parts to validate processes. Also responsible for multiple projects from concept through production, working as developer, designer, and design manager. Special projects included working with VP to develop new product designs.
