A North Carolina native, Karen has been a lifelong doodler and illustrator with a deep passion for the natural world and animal life. She holds a degree in graphic design from NCSU’s prestigious College of Design and a master’s in Human-Computer Interaction from RPI. This unique blend of design expertise, cognitive psychology, and natural history informs her art, creating a rich interplay of color, texture, and form. Her stylized shapes and subtle shading bring her subjects to life in a dynamic, theatrical way.
Influenced by artists such as David Hockney, Saul Steinberg, Donna Sickles-Powell, and Maurice Sendak, Karen embraces bold colors, expressive lines, and a playful approach that blurs the line between reality and fantasy. Her love for narrative-driven imagery and deep connection to nature invite viewers into a world of joy, curiosity, and discovery.
