I am a creative individual with a passion for visual design and fabrication. I am inspired by the idea that functional items can and should be a thing of beauty. I love being challenged to develop a beautiful and practical solution to an abstract problem. I also have a background in engineering which gives me the unique ability to look at situations from both a visual and analytical perspective.
As the Design Specialist at the Rochester Arc + Flame Center I design print and digital marketing materials, and in doing so have developed an interest in graphic design. I also design and fabricate custom metal artwork using a combination of Adobe Creative Suite and CNC metal cutting software and equipment. This has allowed me to explore ways to combine graphic and industrial design. Working at a small company has given me the opportunity to expand my knowledge to include marketing. I design monthly digital newsletter campaigns using MailChimp, maintain social media presence on Twitter and Instagram, photograph company events and gallery work and edit photos using Adobe Photoshop, and execute class scheduling and registrations using Shopify Services.
I graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a major in Industrial Design, a minor in Mechanical Engineering and a concentration in Anthropology and Sociology. I spent the summer of 2011 studying Scandinavian furniture design in Copenhagen, Denmark through the Danish Institute for Study Abroad. I am also currently pursuing an Applied Associate Degree in Visual Communications with an emphasis in Graphic Design from the Monroe Community College as a part time student.
